What is Redtail CRM, and what does it cost in 2026?

Redtail CRM is a customer relationship manager for US financial advisors, sold by Redtail Technology. On 26 October 2026, its pricing page priced it at $39 per user per month on the Launch plan and $59 on Growth, billed yearly, or $45 and $65 billed monthly. A third plan, Enterprise, is priced on request with a "Minimum license commitment required". Launch holds five users at most and gives you Redtail CRM alone, while Growth has no cap on users and adds Imaging for documents and Speak for compliant texting. Growth also adds the AI features, according to Redtail's AI article of September 2026. Redtail Email, the archiving add-on, costs $10 per user per month on top of either plan. The free trial covers the full Growth plan, for new users only. Redtail's home page calls it the "#1 CRM for Financial Advisors", and the pricing page says it is "Trusted by Over 100,000 Advisors". Redtail publishes its security documentation, covering the CRM and every connected tool, in Orion's Trust Center. On 26 October 2026, that Trust Center listed SOC 2 Type 2, SOC 1 and ISO 27001 reports and AWS among its subprocessors, without stating where data is stored. Redtail's iPhone app held 4.6 out of 5 from 693 ratings on the App Store on 26 October 2026.

What does Redtail's Launch plan leave out?

Redtail's Launch plan leaves out permissions, automated workflows, email and calendar sync, and every Imaging and Speak feature, according to the feature table on Redtail's pricing page read on 26 October 2026. Who checks what Redtail's AI and Standards agents do?

Redtail asks financial professionals to review what its AI produces; Standards by default makes a person approve every deletion and every message sent outside before the agent acts. Redtail's article on its AI features, published in September 2026, says outputs "should be reviewed for accuracy and appropriateness by financial professionals in all cases". Apart from a review step before Contact Import saves, it describes no step where a person approves an action before the Redtail Assistant takes it. The features run on the Growth plan only and stay subject to approval by your broker-dealer. The article names five tools: Review Prep, which summarizes a client's history before a review; Workflow Builder, which builds a process from a prompt; Smart Search; the Redtail Assistant, which schedules meetings, logs notes and creates follow-ups; and Contact Import. Before you switch the assistant on, ask Redtail which changes it makes in client records on its own and where your firm sees them afterwards.

Standards agents read your clients' documents and write to their records, within the rights of the person they act for. A conversation starts in Auto mode by default: edits and new records go through without asking. By default, every deletion and every message sent outside, such as an email, waits for a person's approval, and the request counts what it will affect. In Manual mode, the agent "Asks for your approval before each change to your data". Each record keeps its history: which colleague or which agent changed what, when, and the value before.

How much of your client file can you shape in Redtail?

Redtail lets you add user-defined fields at contact and account level on both plans, according to its pricing page read in October 2026, inside the contact and account structure Redtail provides. Its pages describe no way to create objects of your own, such as a trust or an insurance policy, with their own fields and links. An advisor who manages a household with several accounts and an estate plan then spreads it across contacts, accounts, notes and Imaging folders. Document storage with audit trails sits in Imaging, which only Growth includes. If your files hold households, contracts and the documents behind them, count how many of those links your team would keep in notes and Imaging folders before you choose.

In Standards, you describe your own objects at setup and whenever your work changes, such as households, contracts and assets, each with its fields. A household groups its members, each with a role, and a contract carries each holder's share and the ownership of the asset. You can filter on those links, for example to list every contract in which one client holds a share. Each record has its own drive, and can require supporting documents by type, each with an expiry date you declare. Roles set who reads, creates, edits or deletes each object.

Strengths

What Redtail CRM does better.

Redtail does compliance archiving, which Standards does not. Redtail Email "Meets and exceeds SEC/FINRA regulations", Speak is built to "Automatically archive every message for compliance", and Imaging is "SOC 2 Type II certified", according to Redtail's product pages read in October 2026. Redtail publishes its prices, offers a free trial of Growth and converts your database for free, and its CRM page promises "Dedicated onboarding, support, and training resources". The same page lists "100+ deep integrations", including Orion, Schwab and eMoney.

If you are a US advisor whose broker-dealer or compliance team requires archived email and texts, pick Redtail.

When is Standards a better choice than Redtail?

Standards suits a firm of 5 to 50 people that keeps forcing households, contracts and their documents into Redtail contacts and accounts, and that wants agents to do the filing under roles and approvals it sets. It assumes your SEC or FINRA archiving of email and texts already sits with your broker-dealer or a dedicated archiver. Standards is the better choice when:

  • your clients are households and companies, and each link carries a role, a share or an ownership regime;

  • each file must hold supporting documents by type, with an expiry date;

  • you want agents to file and update records, while a person approves, by default, every deletion and every email they send;

  • your AI tools (Claude, Codex, Cursor) must read and write your records through the Standards API, SDK and MCP server.

The Standards comparisons apply the same criteria to other tools, and the guide on building a client database from a spreadsheet shows how households and contracts become records.

How do you move from Redtail to Standards?

You move from Redtail to Standards with Standards engineers, starting with a 30-minute call about your Redtail contacts, accounts, workflows and the tools around them. You leave that call with a plan: what Standards replaces, what agents take over, and how many weeks the move takes. The length depends on the volume and the state of your data, and the engineers estimate it with you on that call. You describe your business, the Standards AI architect proposes the objects, and your Redtail exports are imported into them; a heavy migration is quoted on that first call. Your archiving stays where it is: Standards does not replace Redtail Email, Speak or your broker-dealer's archive. The engineers set up the workspace with you, because self-serve sign-up is still on a waitlist for teams that prefer to start on their own. Gmail and Google Calendar connect on the Standards cloud hosted in France (OVH, and Supabase in Paris); Outlook needs a dedicated instance or your own infrastructure.

  1. You and a Standards engineer spend 30 minutes on your Redtail contacts, accounts, workflows and the tools around them.

  2. You describe your business to the AI architect, which proposes objects, fields and views that you validate step by step on sample records.

  3. Standards engineers import your Redtail exports into those objects, with any heavy migration quoted on the first call.

  4. You connect your Gmail inbox and your Google Calendar, create your first agents, and choose whether each conversation runs in Auto or Manual mode.

Questions

Before you switch tools.

Yes. Redtail CRM is a client relationship manager for financial advisors, sold by Redtail Technology alongside Imaging for documents and Speak for compliant texting, both included in Growth, and Email for archiving, an add-on. Its pricing page, read on 26 October 2026, says it is "Trusted by Over 100,000 Advisors". The CRM itself covers contacts, accounts, notes, calendars, reports, workflows and a mobile app.

Redtail cost $39 per user per month on Launch and $59 on Growth in October 2026, billed yearly, or $45 and $65 billed monthly, according to its pricing page. Launch stops at five users and leaves out permissions, workflows, email sync and AI. Enterprise plans are priced on request, with a minimum license commitment. Redtail Email adds $10 per user per month.

Yes, as an add-on. Redtail Email lists "Compliant email hosting/archiving" and support for POP3 or IMAP accounts, at $10 per user per month, according to its product page read in October 2026. Redtail describes it as "an email archiving solution designed for financial advisors" that "Meets and exceeds SEC/FINRA regulations". It is not part of the free trial.

Redtail is the better fit when SEC and FINRA archiving of email and texts decides your choice: it archives through Redtail Email, an add-on, and through Speak, included in Growth. Standards offers no such archiving. Standards is the better fit when households, contracts and the documents behind them shape your client files, because you describe them as your own objects, which Redtail's pages do not describe.

  1. Standards files your Gmail threads on the matching client records and keeps a history of every change, but it offers no SEC or FINRA archiving of email or text messages. A US firm with that duty keeps its archiving tool, such as Redtail Email, a dedicated archiver or its broker-dealer's, beside Standards.

Standards hosts your data in France (OVH, and Supabase in Paris), on an instance dedicated to your firm, or on your own infrastructure. Gmail and Google Calendar connect on the cloud hosted in France; Outlook needs a dedicated instance or your own infrastructure. Standards charges per person per month, with the guided setup included, and an engineer gives you the price on the first call.
