Plus stops at ten seats, so a growing firm moves to Pro. Who approves a change made by Attio AI or a Standards agent?
Attio asks before its chat assistant changes your data, while a Standards conversation runs by default in Auto mode, where the agent applies edits without asking you. Attio's help center says Ask Attio, available on all plans, can "create or update records, create tasks, and draft emails", and that "All suggested changes require your approval before being applied." It cannot send an email without your approval either. Attio's workflow agents research and return text, and a separate "Update record" block that you place in the workflow writes it to the record on each run. Standards agents read your clients' documents and write to their records with the permissions of the colleague they act for. In Manual mode, a Standards agent "Asks for your approval before each change to your data." In Auto mode, deletions and outward sends, such as an email, still wait for a person by default. If you want every AI edit checked by default, Attio's chat does that out of the box; in Standards, each person sets their "Default work mode" to Manual.
Who approves, read on 26 October 2026 | Attio | Standards |
|---|---|---|
Edits and new records from the chat | approved one by one in Ask Attio | applied without asking in Auto mode, the default; approved one by one in Manual mode |
Emails | drafts that you send yourself | wait for a person's approval by default |
Deletions | notes and tasks: approved in Ask Attio | wait for a person's approval by default |
Automated runs | workflow blocks you publish write on each run, with no approval per run | agents started by a record change, a form, a webhook or a schedule apply edits without asking; by default, deletions and sends wait for a person |
How do Attio and Standards hold a client file?
Attio holds a client file as a person, company or deal record, with custom objects from its Pro plan and files linked from cloud storage. Standards holds it in objects you define, each record with its own drive of documents that agents read. Attio's plans page on 26 October 2026 adds formula attributes on Pro: Plus offers three extra standard objects on top of People and Companies, and Pro allows up to twelve objects, standard and custom combined. Files reach an Attio record through links to Dropbox, Google Drive, Box or OneDrive, which each member connects, alongside file storage of 50 GB on Free and Plus and unlimited on Pro and Enterprise. A Standards object can be a household or a contract, and a relation between two records can carry a role or a share. Document fields carry the properties you declare, such as a type and an expiry date, and an agent copies what it reads in a PDF or a scan into the record.
The client file, October 2026 | Attio | Standards |
|---|---|---|
Your own objects | from Pro, up to 12 objects in all; unlimited on Enterprise | the objects you define during setup, with the AI architect |

Strengths
What Attio does better.
Attio is built for sales and growth teams: its pricing page lists sequences, bulk email sending, call intelligence and automatic enrichment of companies and people, with funding raised, employee count and connection strength. It syncs Gmail and Microsoft 365 Outlook on every plan and ships iOS and Android apps. It offers a free plan for up to three seats with no credit card required, and a 14-day Pro trial. Its trust center lists an ISO 27001 certificate, which Standards does not claim. Standards has no bulk email, sequences or enrichment, and no mobile app.
If you run a startup or a sales team whose day is prospecting, pipeline and outreach, pick Attio.
When is Standards a better choice than Attio?
Standards suits a firm of ten people or more whose work lives in client files: households, companies, contracts and the documents behind them. It fits a firm that wants agents to read those documents and update the records, in an Auto or Manual approval mode chosen for each conversation, and whose records must be stored in France or on its own servers. Standards is the better choice when:
your clients are households, companies and estates, linked to each other with roles and shares;
each client file must hold its documents, with the properties you declare such as a type and an expiry date, read by agents;
you want a person to approve every deletion and every email an agent sends, by default;
your records and documents must be stored in France, on a dedicated instance, or on your own infrastructure.
The other Standards comparisons apply the same criteria to HubSpot, Wealthbox and other tools, and the developer pages cover the Standards API, SDK and MCP server.
How do you move from Attio to Standards?
You move from Attio to Standards with Standards engineers, and the setup is included in the subscription. On a 30-minute call, an engineer goes through your Attio workspace with you and says which of your tools Standards would replace and which you should keep beside it. Self-serve sign-up is not open yet, so new firms join a waitlist and set up their workspace with the engineers.
You and a Standards engineer spend 30 minutes on your Attio objects, your exports and the apps you connected.
You describe your firm to the Standards AI architect, which proposes objects, fields and views that you check on sample records.
Standards engineers create your Attio records in those objects in bulk, from your exports.
You connect your Gmail inbox and your calendar, create your first agents, and choose Auto or Manual mode for each conversation.
Questions
Before you switch tools.
Attio is used by startups and sales teams to run their pipeline of people, companies and deals, which it enriches automatically with data such as funding raised. Sequences and call recording come with its Pro plan, and Ask Attio, on every plan, drafts emails and updates records once you approve each change.
For a startup or a sales team, mostly yes. Attio publishes its prices, offers a free plan and a 14-day Pro trial, and puts Ask Attio, AI agents, its API and an MCP server on every plan. Single sign-on waits for Enterprise. TechRadar's review lists a steep learning curve, a limited integration library and no phone support. Stacksync's finds day-to-day use quick to learn but advanced customization harder, and calls integration depth Attio's biggest gap.
The Stacksync review of Attio, updated in August 2026, compares it with HubSpot, Salesforce, Airtable, Folk and Pipedrive. Standards is the alternative for a firm whose work lives in client files and their documents. The other Standards comparisons set it against HubSpot and other tools on the same criteria.
Yes, for up to three seats. Attio's Free plan costs $0 in October 2026 and includes 50,000 records, three objects and 250 workspace credits a month, according to its pricing page. A team of four or more needs Plus, at $35 per user per month billed annually, or Pro beyond ten seats. Standards offers no free plan or trial today: new firms join a waitlist.
Attio's trust center, read on 26 October 2026, says Attio "is hosted on Google Cloud Platform in the EU" with no other residency option; Attio's llms.txt lists custom residency on Enterprise. The trust center names OpenAI, Anthropic and Google as AI subprocessors. Standards stores your records in Paris on OVH and Supabase, on a dedicated instance or on your servers. Like Attio, it sends what agents read to AI providers; its meeting recordings and cloud browsers run at outside vendors.
Yes, on a dedicated instance or on your own infrastructure. On the Standards cloud, the connected inbox and calendar are Gmail and Google Calendar only. Attio syncs Microsoft 365 Outlook and Outlook Calendar on every plan, including Free, which matters if your firm runs on Microsoft 365. Outlook accounts that Microsoft 365 does not host cannot sync with Attio either.
